Dr. S.Y. Quraishi to Grace the Danish Siddiqui Journalism Award 2025 as Chief Guest

The Danish Siddiqui Foundation is honored to announce that Dr. S.Y. Quraishi, Former Chief Election Commissioner of India, will be the Chief Guest at the Danish Siddiqui Journalism Award 2025 ceremony.

Dr. Quraishi, a distinguished public servant and senior member of the Indian Administrative Service (IAS 1971 batch), is renowned for his outstanding contributions to electoral reform, democratic governance, and public service. As the 17th Chief Election Commissioner of India, he oversaw the conduct of some of the world’s largest and most complex elections, championing transparency, fairness, and innovation.

Throughout his career, Dr. Quraishi has strongly advocated for electoral literacy, minority rights, and gender inclusion. His extensive writings and public engagements on democracy, governance, and media ethics have shaped discourse nationally and internationally. His books, including “An Undocumented Wonder: The Making of the Great Indian Election” and “The Population Myth,” have been widely acclaimed for their depth and insight.

His presence at the Danish Siddiqui Journalism Award ceremony underscores the Foundation’s commitment to celebrating journalism that is courageous, ethical, and rooted in truth, values that align closely with Dr. Quraishi’s contributions to public life.

The Danish Siddiqui Journalism Award recognizes outstanding work across categories such as photojournalism, broadcast, print, and digital, upholding the ideals of integrity, empathy, and truth that Danish Siddiqui stood for.

The award ceremony will be held in New Delhi, on 4th May.
