While we recognize the Kisan Trust’s efforts to honor the memory of Danish Siddiqui, a distinguished photojournalist and Pulitzer Prize winner, we feel it is important to state that neither the Danish Siddiqui Foundation nor the Siddiqui family is any longer involved in any capacity with the creation, organization, or promotion of this award. We deeply respect Danish’s legacy and are committed to honoring it through our independent initiatives.
The Danish Siddiqui Foundation was established to continue Danish’s work by promoting value-based journalism—the principles he passionately upheld. We remain focused on advancing journalistic integrity, truth, and the values Danish stood for without aligning ourselves with any specific group or cause. Our initiatives, such as scholarships, documentaries, photo exhibitions, and the Danish Siddiqui Journalism Award, are independent efforts to preserve his legacy and support responsible journalism.
We kindly request that the public and the media avoid linking the Danish Siddiqui Foundation or the Siddiqui family with the Danish Siddiqui Freedom Award. Using his name in this context does not reflect our involvement or endorsement.
