Danish is an inspiration to so many of us by both those of us who knew him and those who knew him through his photography both as a committed journalist as an incredible photographer and as a human being. But beyond Danish's amazing photography, what really shone through was his commitment to the people whom he was documenting and always showing the truth of a situation no matter how difficult that was. Trusted and accurate journalism is critical for society. The point of journalism is to show people what's happening in the world to amplify people's voices and help people understand the context that we live in. We need to work, stories need to be strongly told you need to make an impact in order to reach an audience if people don't read the stories if people don't look at the photos then there wasn't any point in doing that work. The Danish Siddiqui Journalism Award is focused on recognizing the tenacity the commitment to accuracy and impactful journalism that Danish's work embodied. Whether you're a young freelancer starting out or a seasoned professional we want to acknowledge that effort, time and commitment that goes into producing impactful journalism whatever the medium. The power of Danish's work is a guiding light in journalism and this award honors those that continue his legacy. We look forward to seeing your work.
