Prof. Kishalay Bhattacharjee

Prof. Kishalay Bhattacharjee is the Dean of the Jindal School of Journalism and Communication at O.P. Jindal Global University. A distinguished journalist, academic, and author, he brings over three decades of experience spanning journalism, conflict reporting, media education, and research.

Before transitioning to academia, Prof. Bhattacharjee had an extensive career in journalism, reporting for several leading national and international media organisations. Over the years, he has covered a wide range of subjects, including conflict, politics, migration, human rights, and social change, with a particular focus on South Asia and India's Northeast.

His academic and research interests include conflict reporting, peace journalism, migration studies, media ethics, and the evolving relationship between journalism and society. As an educator and mentor, he has played a significant role in shaping and guiding aspiring journalists, encouraging rigorous, ethical, and socially engaged journalism.

Prof. Bhattacharjee is also the author and editor of several books and scholarly works on journalism, conflict, and migration. Through his work as both a journalist and an academic, he continues to contribute to critical conversations on media, democracy, and public discourse.

At the Jindal School of Journalism and Communication, he leads efforts to foster innovative, interdisciplinary, and globally informed journalism education while nurturing a new generation of media professionals committed to public interest journalism.
